The following questions are often asked about parking at UWF:
Q: Why do I have to buy a permit?
A: Parking is a self-supported auxiliary unit. All new lots and improvements to existing lots are funded through permit sales and citation fines. The state does not fund parking.
Q: How is parking designated?
A: Parking is designated by signage. In each lot there will be signs designating parking. Parking is further designated by permit color. For example, faculty and staff are issued yellow permits and the signs designating faculty and staff parking will have signs with the words FAC/STAFF in a yellow box.
Q: What does Open Parking mean?
A: After 4:30 P.M. anyone with a parking permit may park in any commuter or faculty and staff space. After 5:30 P.M. anyone with a parking permit may park in one of the numbered reserved spaces. Resident spaces, however, never become open to anyone except residents.
Q: Where is the best place to park?
A: Finding a space is some lots can be a challenge during peak hours. However, the following lots always have spaces which are open to ALL permit holders: Lots J, L, M and Z. Lots J and L are between the tennis courts and the Center for Fine and Performing Arts and Lot Z is just south of Martin Hall.
Q: I am only taking a night class. Do I still need a permit?
A: Yes. All students or employees who park on campus must purchase a permit.
