Welcome to Transfer Student Orientation! Transfer Student Orientation was established to aid in the transition of degree-seeking students that are admitted into the university with 30 or more credit hours. Increasingly, students are enrolling into our university with transfer credits from within the community college system and/or other universities around the country. The University of West Florida deems transfer students a top priority, and we would like to ensure that every student gains the opportunity to obtain all of the necessary information they will need for the successful completion of their degree.
We understand and acknowledge that you have already been a freshman once before and may have already attended orientation at your previous school. We know that each school has their own academic rigor, standards, expectations and traditions. However, we have learned that students who attend our orientation sessions are much more comfortable with their new environment than their peers who did not attend orientation. At these sessions, we offer you additional tools you will need to be a successful student at UWF.
The first step in the transition from community college or university is attending UWF’s transfer student orientation either online or on campus. Transfer student orientation will give you the head start you will need to successfully begin the semester. During orientation, you will learn more about our campus, academic requirements and expectations, as well as student support services. Once you complete either online or on-campus orientation, you need to contact your major department and make an appointment to see an academic advisor in your college of study.
Orientation is MANDATORY for all Fall 2014 transfer students. Transfer students have the option of choosing to attend an on-campus orientation session or complete their requirement online, which will open for student review and completion in June 2014 and close on August 1, 2014. There is a fee of $80 for the on-campus orientation and $50 for the online orientation. NOTE: The MANDATORY transfer student orientation must be completed prior to the August 1, 2014 deadline. Failure to complete the mandatory orientation in a timely manner may result in an orientation hold being placed on your account, which may prevent you from registering for classes.
