That is a simple question. When your child registers for New Student Orientation or Transfer Transition there is a place on the registration form to put down the name of guest who wish to attend. It is important that a guest is registered to attend. This way we will be expecting you.
We will have a packet of information, nametag, and meals ready when you arrive.
If a family member or guest is coming with a student to New Student Orientation please be advised the program for guests during the two-days run at the same time but are different programs.
Check-in will be at Martin Hall just like the students. Then students and guest will attend the opening session together. Once the opening session is complete then students will leave and begin the New Student Orientation program.
Guests will stay and begin the Family Orientation. Guests will not be allowed to stay with the student. One of the outcomes for New Student Orientation is for students to meet other students. This helps with the adjustment to college. We have learned when a guests stay with the student this outcome is often not met and the student's transition is not as easy.
Also be aware housing is not covered under the registration cost for guests. Guests will need to find lodging if needed. There are local hotels in the area as well as housing for guest on campus. Please see the lodging section for more information.
Guests attending with Transfer Students will attend the same program as the student. The guest will stay with the student throughout the program. Please see the Transfer Transition schedule for more information.
