Disability Award Luncheon
On October 1, 2013, The Disability Summit Council will present the 9th Annual National Disability Awareness Month Luncheon at the Scenic Hills Country Club. Individuals from various organizations, agencies, service providers, and educational institutions will be recognized for their hard work, dedication and services they've provided to people with disabilities.

On October 9, 2013, UWF Faculty, Students and Staff will participate in a Mentoring Day Program. Students in the Project Search Program will spend the day with a mentor on campus. The students will shadow their mentor and have hands on experiences in a workplace setting. The mentoring will take place from 8:30a.m. to 11:45a.m., and from 12:00pm to 1:00pm they will participate in a facilitated discussion on their experience lead by Ms. Tasha Talton, Asst. Director, Student Transition Programs.

Disability Awareness Conference
On October 17, 2013, the University of West Florida will present its 10th Annual Disability Awareness Day Event in the UWF Conference Center. The event theme is "Because We Are EQUAL to the Task: From Job Seeker to Job Keeper". From 9:00a.m. to 3:30p.m. sessions will be offered for students, service providers, employers, advocates, educators, and people with disabiities. Ms. Susan Byram, Executive Director, Autism Pensacola is the keynote speaker, and Ms. Sherry Wheelock, President/CEO, Special Olympics Florida is the special guest speaker. The program will also have a discussion panel, job fair and Speaking Peer to Peer session. There will be door prizes, and admission is free and open to the public.

Wheelchair Basketball Game
On October 24, 2013, the University of West Florida will host the Mobile Patriots at the 12th Annual Wheelchair Basketball Game. The game is scheduled from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. in the UWF Field House Gym. There will be live entertainment, concessions and lots of giveaways. Admission is free and open to the public.
