Established in 1998, the University of West Florida’s Office of Informal Dispute Resolution and ADA Compliance provides confidential and informal assistance to students, faculty and staff interested in resolving disputes without resorting to formal grievance or complaint processes. The office uses alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediation, to provide confidential and informal assistance to promote trust, respect and civility within the campus community.
Additionally, our office is responsible for ensuring campus-wide compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and as such, directly responds to faculty, staff and public requests for reasonable recommendations and indirectly to student requests. Students requesting reasonable accommodations are referred to the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC). Our office works collaboratively with the Student Disability Resource Center to assist with student needs that SDRC is unable to meet and serves as a clearinghouse for all reasonable accommodation requests involving physical access. Discrimination complaints based on disability are referred to the Office of Human Resources.
