The University of West Florida will be closed due to the threat of severe weather from 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, 04/10/2024, through 4:59 a.m., Thursday, 04/11/2024. All essential personnel are asked to report to work as assigned. If you are essential personnel and required to report to work, your supervisor will notify you. Otherwise please follow your departmental emergency closing procedures.

All non-exempt, hourly employees should report Administrative Leave on their timesheet for their regularly scheduled work shifts for the period of the closure and indicate "Emergency Closing" in the comment section.

Additional instructions for time and leave reporting are defined within the " Reporting Hours during Emergency Closing" document provided by Human Resources.

As always, the safety of our students, faculty and staff are the University’s top priority. In the event of an emergency, please contact the UWF Police Department at 850.474.2415.

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, ITS, in conjunction with Human Resources and the Controller’s Office, will deploy the newest version of Banner for Human Resources Self-Service application.

Self-Service Banner Home

You will continue to log into Self-Service through MyUWF using your UWF credentials. While the upgraded version of Banner features the same or similar functionality as the previous Banner 8 version, you will notice changes to Self-Service Banner Home. Self-Service Banner’s interface has been modernized to offer easier navigation and a more intuitive user experience. 

New Features and Functionality

In addition to Banner’s improved interface for easier navigation, Self-Service Banner 9 offers users new features to allow for quicker access to information and streamlined processes.

  • Mobile Functionality: Complete a range of tasks from your tablet or mobile device with Self-Service Banner’s new mobile functionality.
  • Enhanced Browser Support: Access Self-Service Banner from your preferred browser.  
  • New Employee Dashboard: Quickly view your personal, employment and job-related information.
    • Employees will enter time and/or leave under My Activities in their employee dashboard. Detailed instructions on how to enter time and/or leave will be available to the campus in the near future. Interactive training sessions will also be available for all employees to attend and will be listed in the Professional Development Learning Library once they have been scheduled.

The upgrade to Employee Self-Service Banner 9 aligns with UWF’s commitment to increasing efficiency and delivering an enhanced experience for students, faculty and staff. You are invited to review the materials provided below which outline the characteristics of a deferred pay plan for Nine Month Faculty member’s salary being paid over 12 months. These materials include a review of the advantages and disadvantages of this plan option and its effects on insurance, benefits and retirement, and possible alternatives to participating in the Plan.

The enrollment dates for this program will be March 1, 2024 to June 28, 2024. Those who are enrolled and wish to discontinue must complete the Termination form between March 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024. Enrollment and Termination forms must be sent to Human Resources Bldg. 20 East and received by close of business June 28, 2024.

The University of West Florida has just released its 2023-2024 Employee Retention Plan.

The Workplace Flexibility Program Manual is a guideline for both the supervisor and the employee interested in flex scheduling or remote work.  Both of these programs are intended to create flexible conditions that will enhance the capability of both the employee and the University to meet/exceed the stated goals and objectives more effectively.

Combined Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The University of West Florida is committed to assisting all members of the UWF community in providing for their own safety and security. The 2022 - 2023 Combined Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is available on the University of West Florida Police Department website.

The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University of West Florida; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

This information is required by law and is provided by the University of West Florida Police Department.
