Other Personal Services (OPS) Worker Affordable Care Act Implementation

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act passed by Congress in March 2010 requires employers throughout the country to offer affordable health insurance coverage to employees who work 30 hours or more on average per week.

For the purposes of insurance coverage only, these employees will be considered full-time and, starting with the upcoming Open Enrollment, the state will offer them health insurance coverage and other insurance benefits effective January 1, 2014.

OPS employees who regularly work less than 30 hours per week should contact the Florida Marketplace for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act options that are available (Florida Marketplace or HealthCare.Gov).

There will be many different mailings coming from the People First Service Center as all our OPS employees (including adjuncts, OPS staff, and OPS students) are added to the People First data base. People First is the third party pre-tax insurance administrator for the State of Florida. The mailings will include an opportunity to sign in to the People First Web portal and set up a password. They will also mail out at the behest of the Federal Government a notice about the Florida Marketplace health exchange which is a site to acquire health insurance for those not otherwise eligible for State (employer) sponsored health insurances. The Health Insurance Marketplace Notice is associated with employment at the University.

2013 Customer Service Survey Coming Soon

The UWF Human Resources Department will soon ask the campus community to participate in its second annual survey of customer service provided. The inaugural survey was completed in October, 2012, with 17% of employees (nearly half were supervisors and a little more than half non-supervisors) responding to the survey invitation. The purpose of these annual surveys is to obtain feedback on areas in which the department excels and ideas on how services can be improved.

The department continues to make service improvements that were identified with your feedback in October 2012, including improving written communication and the functionality of our website. A primary focus of the department continues to be providing excellent customer service. Your candid feedback is vital. Please look for your survey invitation in October.

If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Faria at 850-474-2602.
