The Office of Title IX Programs

The Title IX office manages complaints of sexual misconduct (such as stalking and sexual harassment), sexual violence (such as dating violence and sexual assault/rape) and gender-based discrimination (differential treatment based on someone's gender or sex). The Title IX office also provides training to the campus community and communicates what resources are available to students, faculty, and staff.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex and/or gender in federally funded programs or activities.  The University of West Florida does not discriminate on the basis of sex and/or gender in its educational programs or activities.  The University’s policies related to Title IX are the Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Violence, and Gender-Based Discrimination and Retaliation Policy (P-14.02-02/15) ("Title IX Policy") and the University Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation (P-13.03 -05/10).

In addition, most University employees (both faculty and staff) are considered Responsible University Employees under the Title IX Policy.  Responsible University Employees are defined as any employee with the authority to address sexual misconduct, sexual violence, or gender-based discrimination or any employee who a student may reasonably perceive to have the authority to address that misconduct. Responsible University Employees are required to immediately notify the University’s Title IX Coordinator in the event that a student or employee discloses any alleged sexual violence, sexual misconduct, or gender-based discrimination to him or her.

For inquiries concerning the application of Title IX and the federal regulations associated with the law, or to inquire regarding your status or responsibilities as a Responsible University Employee, please contact the Title IX Coordinator (contact information below). Students, faculty or staff who believe that they are being discriminated against or harassed on the basis of sex and/or gender can seek advice, assistance, report incidents, and/or file complaints with any of the following individuals:
