University Testing Services and the Testing Center's role is to advance UWF's mission, vision, and priorities by providing the University, northwest Florida and southeast Alabama communities standardized testing services which meets the needs of its clients. This web site provides links to national and state examinations offered on campus at the University of West Florida.
About the Testing Center
UWF Testing Services and the Test Center are committed to providing the University and broader community the most technologically advanced standardized testing services available. As part of Student Affairs, UWF Testing Services (UTS) serves the University and other entities by providing information and test administration services for numerous standardized examination programs. Our main office is located in Building 21, room 120.
UTS administers examinations required for admission to colleges, graduate and professional schools as well as many other specialty examinations. Examples include the ACT, SAT, CLEP, GRE, MAT, LSAT, and TOEFL. UTS also offers proctored exam service for students enrolled in other institutions, UWF students enrolled in online courses, as well as other certification or licensure exams.
In addition, UWF has a computer-based test center. Part of the testing space is exclusively contracted with Educational Testing Service to administer, via computer, the GRE, TOEFL, PRAXIS and other computer-based examinations. Additional space is used to administer other computer-based exams such as the CLEP, CLA/CP, MAT and others. A separate room with test stations provides a location for special testing sessions when a private session or special equipment is required for a disabled candidate.
This secure facility has 14 PC test stations, and audio/video monitoring. A separate room with two test stations provides a location for special testing sessions when a private session or special equipment is required for a disabled candidate.

CHES - Certified Health Education Specialists
CLA/CP - Certified Legal Assistant/Certified Paralegal Examinations
The NALA Certifying Board for Paralegals is responsible for content, standards and administration of the Certified Paralegal Program. Beginning in the Fall of 2010, the Certified Paralegal Exam moved to computer based testing, and is offered in over 200 universities, community colleges, and private testing centers. The examination is dividied into five sections: Communications, Ethics, Legal Research, Judgment and Analytical Ability, and Substantive Law. The UWF Testing Center is a Non-ACT Testing Center, and has been approved as a test site for the Certified Paralegal Exams. Once your application has been approved, you will receive the Authorization to Test Information Packet which will provide details about registering with the UWF Test Center. You will be instructed to contact the Testing Center to schedule an appointment and pay the appointment sitting fee. The testing windows and deadlines are:

CLEP - College-Level Examination Program
CLEP is the mostly widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the country. The CLEP examinations are offered by the College Board, a non-profit membership organization that provides tests and other educational services for students, schools, and colleges. The heart of CLEP is a series of examinations, each 90 minutes long, that allow you to demonstrate your knowledge in a wide range of subjects. You can choose from 34 different examinations. The CLEP exams are administered via computer throughout the year.
Students desiring to earn credit at UWF through CLEP need to verify eligibility to earn possible UWF credit prior to registering for an exam. To view the courses you can get credit for please view the CLEP Credit (pdf). The test fee is $80.00 for each CLEP exam, plus a $25.00 UWF Service Fee per test date.
At UWF, test dates are BY APPOINTMENT on computer. Call the Testing Office for the days and hours the CLEP is available for administration, and the registration procedures.
FTCE & FELE - Florida Teach Certification Exams & Florida Educational Leadership Exams
In order to register for the FTCE examinations or the FELE exam, an applicant must complete the appropriate registration application found in the "Certification Examinations for Florida Educators Registration Bulletin" or on the web. Fees vary depending on which exams, and how many, are registered for. The State has a web site for potential teachers at http://www.fl.nesinc.com/. UWF is not a designated test center. Check the web site for available testing centers.
GMAT - Graduate Management Admission Testing
The GMAT is designed to help graduate schools of business assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. The GMAT is now administered as a computer-adaptive test (CAT) throughout North America and in many others parts of the world. More specific information about the test and programs can be found online at the GMAT web site. UWF is not a designated test center. Please visit the GMAT web site for all information.
GRE - Graduate Record Examination
The GRE is typically used as an admissions test for graduate-level programs. The examinations include the General Test, and Subject Tests in several subject areas. More specific information concerning the GRE tests can be found at the GRE web site.
The GRE revised General Test, launching in August 2011, is administered via computer throughout North America and in many other parts of the world. UWF now administers the exam year-round at its computer-based test center by appointment. Visit the GRE web site to schedule a test at our Testing Center.

LSAT - Law School Admission Test
The Law School Admission Test is a half-day standardized test required for admission to LSAC-member law schools. The LSAT provides a standard measure of acquired reading and verbal reasoning skills that law schools can use as one of several factors in assessing applicants. MAT - Miller Analogies Test
The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a high-level test of analytical ability that requires the solution of problems stated as analogies. The test measures your ability to recognize relationships between ideas, your fluency in the English language, and your general knowledge of the humanities, natural sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. The MAT is used by many graduate programs to identify candidates for admission. It is recommended that candidates go to the MAT website to make certain they have the most current information.
UWF now administers the computer-based exam year-round at its computer-based test center by appointment. Call for hours and other information at (850) 473-7340, or view this MAT Registration Form for additional information.
MCAT - Medical College Admission Test
The MCAT is developed by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in cooperation with its member U.S. medical schools. The MCAT assesses mastery of basic concepts in biology, chemistry (general and organic), and physics; facility with scientific problem solving and critical thinking; and writing skills. The goal of the MCAT is to help admission committees predict which of their candidates will be successful in medical school. The MCAT is given in April and August of each year at established test centers (UWF is not a test center). If you register during the late registration period, there is an additional fee. Many colleges require SAT scores as part of your admission application. Many colleges may require or recommend one or more SAT Subject Tests for admission or placement. Check the requirements of colleges you are considering before you decide which tests to take. More specific information about the tests and programs can be found online at the College Board web site. TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
The purpose of the TOEFL test is to evaluate the English proficiency of people whose language is not English. The test uses a multiple-choice format to measure the ability to understand North American English. The TOEFL is administered via the internet, on various dates throughout the year, at test centers throughout North America and in many others parts of the world.
