Student Leadership Awards

The University of West Florida Student Leadership Awards are meant to recognize a collegiate record of leadership and service to UWF and the Pensacola community.


Application Packets will be available January 5, 2016.

Selection is based on campus involvement (impact on campus, variety, and level of involvement), demonstrated personal growth, future commitment and potential for future achievement, letter of recommendation, GPA, application packet, and interview. A student may only be the recipient of these awards once during his/her tenure at the University of West Florida.

Awards Criteria

Deborah L. Ford Emerging Leader Award:

  • Must be a currently enrolled freshmen or sophomore at UWF (less than 60 credit hours)
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative grade point average

Outstanding Student Leader Award:

  • Must be a currently enrolled junior or senior at UWF (60 or more completed credit hours)
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative grade point average

Outstanding Graduate Student Leader Award:

  • Must be a currently enrolled graduate student at UWF
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average

Linda O. Dye Award and/or Kenneth L. Curtis Award:

Given to one male student and one female student for significant contributions, sustained leadership, and service to campus life at The University of West Florida. Students considered for these awards are those who have, through their time, energy, and creativity, worked to enhance activities, intercollegiate athletics, and the development of traditions. Each award comes with a $500.00 scholarship. Note: receipt of this award could affect your financial aid.

  • Must be a currently enrolled senior at UWF
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative grade point average
