Sylvia has been with the University of West Florida since 2006 and became the ADA Coordinator 2008. In 2016 Sylvia joined the Office for Equal Opportunity and Accessibility (OEOA) where she supports both employee, student, and public accommodations. She coordinates accommodations for UWF employees and campus visitors and facilitates academic support services for students. She also serves as the liaison for Project SEARCH a high school transition program for students with disabilities. Sylvia also conducts site visits to keep our campus in compliance with ADA accessibility laws and regulations. She coordinates the Wheelchair Basketball Game, Mentoring Day, and the Disability Awareness Conference. She also facilitates ADA Compliance and Disability Etiquette training for employees. Sylvia serves on the ADA Advisory Committee, the Disability Summit Council, the Project SEARCH Advisory Committee, and the President’s Council for Diversity and Inclusion.
Sylvia received her ADA Coordinator certification from the University of Missouri, School of Health Professions Disability Studies and Policy-Center. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of West Florida. Sylvia is dedicated to inclusiveness and advocating for people with disabilities.
