In order to improve articulation between Florida Public Community Colleges and State Universities, common prerequisites were initiated in Fall semester 1996.
Students entering most bachelor's degree programs at any institution in the SUS must successfully complete a set of lower division courses specified as "common prerequisites" for the selected program. The common lower division prerequisites for a given program, if any, are listed in the first segment of the SASS audit.
These common prerequisites are applicable to similar programs at all public universities. Common prerequisites Florida Virtual Campus in the College Transfer Center's Common Prerequisite Manual.
Substitutions for common prerequisites are authorized by and entered on the SASS audit by the major department.
In this example, the student is currently enrolled in BSC1085 Anatomy and Physiology and the accompanying laboratory. (Current semester is Fall 2006, i.e., 0608)
