Outdoor Adventure Clinics
UWF Recreation's Outdoor Adventure Center offers specialized adventure clinics throughout the year addressing a specific topic relating to outdoor adventure travel and fun. By joining an adventure clinic, you will improve your skill level in a particular area, increase your overall awareness of adventure traveling and have a chance to make new friends!
Join Outdoor Adventures (OA) for a day of sailing at the Pensacola Yacht Club (PYC) each Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Don't know how? We have you covered. OA will provide a knowledgeable Sailing instructor to walk you through the basics of sailing and get you set up with all the essential safety gear. Transportation to and from PYC is offered the first and second available Sunday of each month (check registration listings for specific Sundays).

Come start your belay certification through OA Climbing Center Belay Clinic.
Once you've participated in one free climb and belay from UWF Rec Staff, we encourage you to be Belay Certified by your next climb.
Each clinic is a 45 min-1 hour course designed to teach the safety skills needed for top-rope climbing. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to properly put on a harness, tie into the rope, and belay a partner. Participants should bring a partner if possible, although partners could be found in the course. The Clinic has a limit of six participants per instructor. The 6:1 ratio provides for appropriate supervision and allows participants ample direct practice belaying. The second staff person on duty may help instruct if no other climbers are present; however, the primary role of the second staff on duty is to supervise other climbers who may enter the Center at any moment. Clinics are offered at the first and last hour of open climb. Clinics are the only way that a novice climber can climb on top-rope. During non-clinic times, participants who have passed their belay test may utilize top ropes as a climber, belayer, or backup, and novices can boulder.

First Wednesday of every month, from 6-7 pm, Outdoor Adventures hosts Bike Maintenance Clinics at the UWF Bike Shop (Bldg 209). The bike maintenance clinics are for students and faculty of the University of West Florida to learn basic bike maintenance with local Bike Shop owner from Truly Spokin. Participants can learn about various repair topics how to fix a flat tire, how to adjust your handlebar angle and seat height, as well as topics ranging from tune-ups to overhauls. We encourage anybody who commutes to campus on a bike to stop by and learn how to take proper care of their bike! Register in person at Bldg 72 or online.
