Argo Weight Club
The Argo Weight Club is a semester long FREE incentive program designed to keep you motivated to increase your strength. You may try out for the Argo Weight Club at any time throughout the semester. All you have to do is inform an on-duty Fitness Monitor that you would like to try out for the Argo Weight Club. It's that easy!
How to Become a Member of the Argo Weight Club
Weight Club classification is determined by the total maximum weight lifted in Bench Press, Deadlift and Squat. The classifications include: a 400, 800 and 1200 lb. club. If you qualify for a classification, you will receive a free t-shirt!
Participants Must Consider the Following in Order to Gain Credit for the Lift
- Hands may be placed anywhere along the bar with a hook grip.
- Participants may not bounce weight off the chest.
- Arms must lock out fully at the top of the lift.
- On the bar's descent, elbows must go past parallel to the ground.
- Feet must remain on the ground throughout the lift.
- Buttocks must not leave the bench at any time during the lift.
- Hands must be placed anywhere along the bar.
- The bar must start on the ground.
- Participant must lift bar until back and legs are straight (perpendicular to the ground).
- Legs should be placed about shoulder-width apart.
- Participant must be in control of weight at all times (i.e. cannot perform lift and then drop weight).
- On descent, thighs must go parallel to the floor and buttocks must touch the bench.
- On ascent, must return to full upright position.
Rules & Guidelines
- All lifts must be completed in the presence of a Fitness Monitor.
- The Fitness Monitor will determine if a lift is performed correctly.
- The participant must first demonstrate proper lifting technique without additional weight.
- All lifts must be performed on free weights, i.e. smith machine not allowed for squats.
- All lifts must be performed consecutively.
- Participants may only try out three times per semester, one time per week.
