No refunds. Cancellations of lessons due to inclement weather will be made up through an open swim format. If UWF must cancel a lesson, families of children currently in lessons will be provided a rainy day pass which will allow them admission to the facility to practice their skills during recreational swim hours. Instructors will not be available during this time.

StarShrimps White 

Preschool-Age Lessons; 30-Minute ClassesParent-Assisted Lessons; 30-Minute Classes
StarBabies (6-18 Mos) and StarTot (18-36 Mos) 
The purpose of this course is to develop in very young children a high comfort level in the water while at the same time training parents in water safety and drowning prevention. This course does not teach children to become accomplished swimmers or survive in the water; it does provide a confidence building, fun, loving experience. One parent or caregiver must be in the water with each child. Swim Diapers required.

StarShrimps Swim School for Pre-school (Ages 3 - 5) 
Designed to meet the needs of preschoolers, this course will develop a high comfort level in the water, a readiness to swim, and for those children who are developmentally ready, teach beginning swim skills. This class approaches teaching swimming through creative, fun activities in the water. Students work toward development of the five core swimming competencies* tracking their progression through a Personal Record Book. Children progress at their own pace in a small group setting.

Trust and submersion, body position and air recovery, forward movement and direction change, rotary breathing and integrated movement

For children with a little apprehension getting their face wet but ready to participate in an aquatics class on their own. Emphasis is on basic water adjustment, breath-control and floating.

StarShrimps Red
For children who can’t swim without support but love the water. Prerequisite Skills: Blow bubbles, fully-submerge unassisted; front and back float with support.

StarShrimps Yellow
For children who aren’t afraid, can float and jump in and return to the surface. Prerequisite Skills: Jump into four (4) feet of water; float for five (5) seconds, back and front.

StarShrimps Blue
For children who can swim underwater or on the surface and can get an occasional breath. Prerequisite Skills: Jump-in and swim 10 feet, return; back glide 10 feet.

StarShrimps Green
For children who can swim freestyle with side (rotary) breathing. Prerequisite Skills: Jump-in and swim 10 Prerequisite Skills: Tread water 15 seconds, swim 20 feet with side-breathing; backstroke with kick, 20 feet.

Sea Horse Swim School for Elementary (Ages 6-8) and Primary (Ages 9-older) 
Students work toward development of the five core swimming competencies* tracking their progression through a Swim School Report card. The color levels are used to divide students into broad ability groups. Children progress at individual rates with the opportunity to learn the core swimming skills and progress to advanced strokes. Learning is self-paced but challenging. 5 year olds at Level Red or above may enroll.

School Age Lessons; 30-Minute Classes

Sea Horse White/Red
Prerequisite Skills: For the child with little or no formal instruction in aquatic skills. Class emphasis is on water adjustment skills, bubbles and breath-control, submerging, and front and back float with flutter-kicking.

Sea Horse Yellow
Prerequisite Skills: Jump into 4 feet of water; float for 5 seconds, back and front.

Sea Horse Blue
Prerequisite Skills: Jump-in and swim on front or back 10 feet and return; back glide 10 feet.

Sea Horse Green
Prerequisite Skills: Tread water 15 seconds, swim 20 feet with side-breathing; backstroke with kick, 20 feet.

Nautilus Stroke School ™ (Any age that meets swim school green skill prerequisite)
Students refine freestyle and learn stroke technique for backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and more!

Nautilus White
The focus of this stage is freestyle with an introduction to backstroke. Proper breathing techniques for these strokes should already have been mastered through swim school. Prerequisite Skills: Survival float and tread water for 30 seconds; start in side glide position, swim 10 yards freestyle with face in the water.

Nautilus Red
The focus of this stage is backstroke with an introduction to butterfly. Prerequisite Skills: swim 10 yards with body stretched out and consistent form; swim backstroke triple-switch drill 10 yards.

Nautilus Yellow
The focus of this stage is butterfly. Prerequisite Skills: Freestyle and straight arm recovery backstroke 10 yards; butterfly kick 5 yards.

Nautilus Blue
The focus of this stage is breaststroke. Prerequisite Skills: Freestyle and backstroke 25 yards; butterfly 10 yards.

Nautilus Green
The focus of this stage is building endurance of all four competitive strokes with introduction of various training techniques. Prerequisite Skills: Swim 50 yards freestyle and backstroke; 25 yards butterfly; 25 yards breaststroke.

Starfish Stroke Clinic (Any age that meets skill prerequisite)
Students learn and refine the competitive strokes plus develop an understanding of basic training principles such as using a pace clock, starts and turns, and racing. This program is a great introduction to competitive swimming in a low-key environment. Prerequisite Skills: Swim 50 yards each freestyle, backstroke, butterfly & breaststroke.

Starfish Swim School® for Teen and Adult (Ages 13 - older)
This course is designed to improve comfort and skill in the water, regardless of past swimming experience. Perfect for teens and adults who desire to learn or improve strokes and water skills for fitness or fun.

Private Swim Lessons are available upon request. One-to-one instruction fees are $
160 for 2 hours minimum. To maximize the learning process, we recommend four (4) 30 minute instruction sessions with independent practice between instructional sessions.
