Senior Associate Vice President for ASPIRE (Accreditation, Strategic Planning, and Institutional Research & Effectiveness), Dr. Dorothy J. Minear, earned a PhD in educational leadership, with a concentration in higher education administration and additional emphases in educational research and program evaluation, from Florida State University in 1998; an educational specialist degree in higher education from Appalachian State University in 1991; a master’s degree in guidance and counseling (student personnel services) from Western Carolina University in 1982, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics (with a second emphasis in German) from Mars Hill College in 1975. She has more than 35 years of experience in higher education, having held various instructional, counseling, administrative, and consulting positions throughout the Southeast. Prior to joining UWF in 2011, Dr. Minear served as the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor (and Interim Vice Chancellor) for Academic and Student Affairs for the Board of Governors of the State University System of Florida.
