Parent & Family Orientation

Parents & Families with Fall 2014 FTIC Students
The Office of Family Programs, which is housed in Student Transition Programs, operates a separate, concurrent, two-day program specifically for parents and families. This program is optional, but strongly encouraged. Parents and families will have the opportunity to meet university administrators and faculty, and learn about academic programs, policies, facilities, and services. Although it is a separate program, there will be opportunities for students, parents and families to learn new information within a few joint sessions.

How do I register for Family Orientation?
If you plan to attend orientation, you must register on your student's application in MyUWF under Guests. Guests can be parents, family members and/or siblings. Keep in mind that there is an additional fee for guests.

Edits to Your Registration
You may change sessions, add a guest or make other edits to your orientation registration even after submitting your payment. Registration fees are non-refundable. Edits to your orientation registration may be completed up to one week prior to your orientation session on MyUWF. If you request edits to your registration less than one week prior to your orientation, you must consult with the Student Transition Programs at (850) 473-7229 or To edit your orientation registration, go to MyUWF, log in using your UWF ID #, search and click Orientation Registration for Undergraduate Students (where your completed application will appear), click on Edit My Orientation Registration, and choose your preferred orientation date.

All fees associated with orientation are non-refundable. This includes student and guest registration fees, cancellations, student and guest reservation changes, meals, overnight housing for students, tax, program materials, etc. Once your student registers for orientation, your student will be prompted to pay orientation fees. Your student's spot at orientation will be reserved upon payment completion. Orientation fees are not refundable, so be very certain before you make your reservations. (For example, if your student is a transfer student registered for an on-campus orientation and your student decides to switch to the online orientation, your student will not receive a refund for the difference.)

During orientation, you will receive information about various campus services and opportunities, and interact with other parents, families, faculty and staff.

Orientation Itinerary
Students, parents and families attending orientation will receive a printed schedule of events and other materials at check-in. Registration confirmation emails with detailed information will be sent two weeks prior to your on-campus orientation. Check out this year's orientation schedule for Fall FTIC students, parents and family members: 2014 NSO Program.
