The goal of the University of West Florida is to recognize your efforts in uniform and translate those accomplishments to academic credit.  The University of West Florida follows the American Council on Education's (ACE) recommendations for awarding credit for your military training. You can view ACE recommendations for military training at:  Military Guide.  The Army American Council on Education Registry Transcript System (AARTS) and Sailor Marine Corps American Council on Education Registry Transcript (SMART) have been aligned to implement one collaborative transcript program called the Joint Services Transcript (JST).  The JST is now the official transcript tool for Army, Marine Corps and Navy personnel.  UWF accepts your AARTS, SMART and Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) credits and applies them towards your degree when possible.

Service members can join upcoming webinar sessions by registering. For more information on JST, contact the JST Program Manager at (850) 452-1001, Option 3, Ext. 1097.  For more information about the Military Evaluations Program through ACE, contact (850) 452-111 Ext. 1097. For information on DANTES, visit the DANTES website.  For more information on military education benefits and programs, visit the Education Center.

The GEM program is a partnership between the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and approved academic institutions. GEM courses offered by UWF are in a distance learning format to provide worldwide access reducing the impact of deployments, PCS and family commitments.

This program is specifically for the active duty Air Force students who desire to complete their CCAF degree and meet the 15 semester hour general education degree requirements with UWF's general education courses.

Apply and register for the GEM Program.  Service Members who are attending courses at UWF specifically for the GEM Program are reminded to apply as a non-degree seeking student.

For more information, go to the General Education Mobile page on the MVRC website.

As of 1 July 2009, members of the Armed Forces serving on active duty for a period of more than 30 days will be charged in-state tuition. This also applies to the spouse and dependent children of the service member. House Resolution 4137 ensures that service members are not penalized for relocating for military service. If you are currently serving in Florida or if your permanent duty station or home of record is Florida, you will be charged in-state tuition for the duration for your continuous enrollment.
