UWF in Germany: Germany Yesterday & Today
An introduction to German cultural studies, encompassing German cultural history from the medieval ages to the 21st century.
During the 31/2-week stay in Potsdam (near Berlin), we will meet as a class three to four days a week to discuss historical and present-day cultural and artistic topics and take field trips to Berlin, Dresden and Leipzig.
The field trips will take us to major sites of historical significance, such as World War II memorials and a concentration camp, to buildings and institutions related to contemporary German society and culture, such as the Bundestag and the Stasi-Museum and to buildings of exceptional architectural prominence, such as the famous Sans Souci Castle in Potsdam or the Berliner Dom.
