Trailwalk Tuesday

Take a nature break right outside your office! Explore different trails and walkways that the UWF campus has to offer and learn how to incorporate walking into your workday. Meet at the trail sign for the Edward Ball Nature Trail behind Crosby Hall, Bldg.10. on selected Tuesdays from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. See the calendar for registration.

Wellness Wednesday Workshops

Healthy Eating/Cooking - How to make healthy food choices, how to plan healthy meals on a budget, or how lifestyle habits can affect a healthy weight.

Fitness for You @ UWF - Learn about all the ways to increase physical activity at UWF. Learn how to safely add more physical activity to your current lifestyle.

Stress Management - Long-term stress can negatively affect your body and may lead to other health disorders. Learn how to prevent and manage stress.

Spiritual Health - Learn the importance of spiritual health and how it can enhance overall physical and mental health.

Mental Health in the Workplace – HR Professionals, supervisors and managers can no longer step around the issue of Mental Illness in the workplace.  It’s time to discuss the proverbial “Elephant in the Room.” This session takes a look at mental illness diagnoses, ADA issues related to mental illness in the workplace, and resources to help companies address the “Elephant in their rooms.”

Healthy Eating on a Budget - Learn effective ways to manage a healthy weight. Review of weight loss programs.

Alcohol and Drug-Free Workplace - Participants will have a better understanding of substance abuse in the workplace and how it affects everyone. Participants will have a better understanding of the importance of EAP. A basic understanding of drug trends and signs and symptoms.

Yoga/Mindfulness - Learn the basic principles of yoga and mindfulness and how to incorporate them into daily living.

Diet and Exercise - Learn about the risk factors, signs, symptoms, and what you can do to prevent and/or manage high blood pressure.

Back Care & Office Ergonomics - Learn how to work with your office space so that it fits you and allows for a comfortable working environment for maximum productivity and efficiency.

Healthy Aging - As we age our health needs change. Learn about nutrition, vaccinations, age-related illnesses and safety for adults age 60 and older.

Mental Health First Aid - Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing mental health or substance use-related crisis.

Heart Disease Prevention - Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Learn about the risk factors, signs, symptoms, and what you can do to prevent it.

Prescription Drug Use and Abuse - Learn about the impact of opiates and other drugs on families.

Adopting a Healthy Lifestyle - Learn simple ways to incorporate healthy behaviors every day.

Building Skills to Handle Life’s Pressure - Learn effective methods for resiliency and ways to manage stressors.

QPR - Suicide Prevention - This is a training program that builds skills for recognizing and responding effectively to suicide warning signs.

Dealing with Burnout - Burnout is a unique form of job stress. And it can get in the way of a healthy, productive workplace. But it’s easier to manage when you can see the signs. This seminar will provide basic information on how to recognize and cope with burnout.

Knockout Your Stress - Determine if your life gives you the balance you seek.

Cholesterol Management - Learn about the risk factors, signs, symptoms, and what you can do to prevent and/or manage cholesterol.

Healthy Eating - Healthy eating with a busy lifestyle - practical suggestions and meal planning tips.

Emotional Eating - Sometimes it’s hard to know whether you’re truly hungry or if you’re filling another need. This seminar helps you to learn the difference between the body’s hunger and emotional hunger. You’ll learn: the definition of emotional eating, factors that trigger emotional eating, ways to identify your triggers, how to distinguish between physical and emotional hunger, and how to eat in response to hunger rather than emotions.

Meditation Meet Up - Experience different types of meditation to help manage stress and be more present.

Meditation Pranayama - Breathing is living, and to live, we must breathe. When we consciously control our breath we energize the body and cultivate awareness. An energized body is a cornerstone of good health and awareness is a gateway to happiness and concentration. This workshop will review basic breathing and meditation techniques to vitalize the body and focus the mind.

Exploring Campus Trails - Exploring Campus Trails

The Work and Home Balancing Act - This seminar helps you consider the multiple roles you play in life. You’ll explore how much time you spend on these roles and how this works for you. Do you wish you had more time for other pursuits? This seminar will help you identify the important priorities in your life, determine if your life gives you the balance you seek, learn strategies to create more balance and harmony in your life, and create a plan for change.

parkrun

If you have been thinking about participating in parkrun at UWF, but have never gotten around to it, this is the best time to register and join in the fun on Saturday mornings at 7:30 am. parkrun is an international, family friendly, community event where participants can take part in a friendly walk/run. Register for free at: parkrun.us/register and print and bring your barcode to the event.


Upon completion of the required courses for each level, employees must complete a Verification of Professional Development Completion Form and submit it to Human Resources to receive their incentive and certificate.
