Equal Employment Opportunity & Affirmative Action

The University of West Florida’s Equal Opportunity Office is located in Human Resources. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to discuss discrimination & harassment concerns with the equal employment opportunity personnel. You may do so by calling 850-474-2694.

University of West Florida is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and to compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws that prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of age, color, disability, gender (sex and gender identity), marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, and veteran status. This applies to all employment decisions including, but not limited to, recruiting, hiring, training, promotions, pay practices, benefits, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

The university seeks excellence through diversity among its administrators, faculty, staff, and students. University of West Florida is committed to taking affirmative action to hire and advance minorities and women, as well as, qualified individuals with disabilities and covered veterans.

We invite employees who are disabled or protected veterans and who wish to be included under our Affirmative Action Program to ‌self-identify‌. This self-identification is strictly voluntary and confidential and does not become part of an employee's employment file. Self-identification forms can be faxed to Human Resources at 850-857-6030, brought into the office located in Building 20E, Room 117 or emailed to Sylvia Patterson.

All UWF employees are required to attend Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training every two years. There are two classes: one specifically for supervisory employees and one specifically for non-supervisory employees.

To sign up for these mandatory trainings, please visit the Training Reservation Desk.
