Every year Fraternity and Sorority members take part in educational programs put on by Fraternity & Sorority Life, the University of West Florida, the North-American Interfraternity Conference, and the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values. These educational programs provide our students with skills to enhance their fraternity and sorority life experience, tools to become a better leader, and valuable personal growth and development.
New Member Institute (NMI)
Fraternity & Sorority Life's New Member Institute (NMI) is a one-day program for new members from all fraternities and sororities on the University of West Florida campus. The program helps the new members develop the values of Fraternity & Sorority Life at UWF. Members of our Fraternities & Sororities lead this program in many ways. The IFPB Director of Education helps in the planning and training, members lead as small group facilitators, and the programs are presented by student leaders who have attended AFLV & FLI. New members enjoy getting to know each other through community-building while developing their skills for Academic Excellence and Ethical Leadership, learning about the importance of Stewardship, and gaining Personal Development.
Fraternal Leaders Institute (FLI)
Fraternal Leaders Institute (FLI) is on by Fraternity & Sorority Life. This is a three-day overnight institute for chapter presidents and the council executive boards of Fraternity & Sorority Life at the University of West Florida. This institute helps the leaders of the fraternity and sorority community build relationships and enhance leadership skills. The leaders learn valuable skills to assist them in leading their organizations and councils. Some of the topics covered include values, integrity, diversity, wellness, and risk management. Our fraternity and sorority leaders look forward to this exciting retreat and enjoy breaking down the barriers and developing relationships with the other leaders in our fraternal community.
Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV)
The Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV) Central Fraternal and National Black Greek Leadership Conference is a conference held annually for fraternity and sorority communities all around the United States and Canada. Council leaders attend this conference each year in February. At these conferences, UWF students have a chance to meet their peers from all over the country. They attend educational programs facilitated by professionals and inspirational speakers from around the nation. Students discuss topics relevant to the fraternity and sorority community.
Our fraternity and sorority members enjoyed going to the 2016 conference in Indianapolis, Indiana and having the opportunity to learn valuable information to bring back to their fraternal community at the University of West Florida. Fraternity & Sorority Life is proud of its past accomplishments at AFLV including: UWF Student Kelly McMahon being selected as an Undergraduate Intern for AFLV Central in 2016, UWF was honored to be the first University to be an AFLV Ambassador Delegation in 2015, College Panhellenic Council won the Gamma Phi Beta award for College Panhellenic Programming for 2014-2015 year, UWF Student Nora Trotman and Advisor Jessica Ryan placed 2nd in the Order of Omega Case Study in 2014, and UWF Student Tyler Placeres and Advisor Jessica Ryan placed 1st in the Order of Omega Case Study in 2013.

At UIFI, our students are given the skills to improve their own leadership abilities and positively affect their chapter, council, and community. Our members at the University of West Florida have had the opportunity to attend this institute and every year come back inspired to help our fraternal community grow.
