Educational Programs

Every year Fraternity and Sorority members take part in educational programs put on by Fraternity & Sorority Life, the University of West Florida, the North-American Interfraternity Conference, and the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values. These educational programs provide our students with skills to enhance their fraternity and sorority life experience, tools to become a better leader, and valuable personal growth and development.

Community Building

Acropolis

Acropolis is a new-member institute put on by Fraternity & Sorority Life. This is a one-day program for new members from all fraternities and sororities on the University of West Florida campus. The program helps the new members develop the values of Fraternity & Sorority Life at UWF. Members of our Fraternities & Sororities lead this program in many ways. The IFPB Director of Education helps in the planning and training, members lead as small group facilitators, and the programs are presented by student leaders who have attended AFLV & Mt. Olympus. New members enjoy getting to know each other through community-building while developing their skills for Academic Excellence and Ethical Leadership, learning about the importance of Stewardship, and gaining Personal Development.

Teamwork

Mount Olympus

Mt. Olympus is a Fraternal Leaders Institute put on by Fraternity & Sorority Life. This is a two-day overnight retreat for chapter presidents and the council executive boards of Fraternity & Sorority Life at the University of West Florida. This retreat helps the leaders of the fraternity and sorority community build relationships and enhance leadership skills. The leaders learn valuable skills to assist them in leading their organizations and councils. Some of the topics covered include values, integrity, diversity, wellness, and risk management. Our fraternity and sorority leaders look forward to this exciting retreat and enjoy breaking down the barriers and developing relationships with the other leaders in our fraternal community.

AFLV Central 2014

Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV)

The Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV) Central Fraternal and National Black Greek Leadership Conference is a conference held annually for fraternity and sorority communities all around the united states and canada. Members of CPC, IFC, IFPB, and NPHC attend this conference each year in February. At these conferences, UWF  students have a chance to meet their peers from all over the country. They attend educational programs facilitated by professionals and inspirational speakers from around the nation. Students discuss topics relevant to the fraternity and sorority community. Our fraternity and sorority members enjoyed going to the 2014 conference in Indianapolis, Indiana and having the opportunity to learn valuable information to bring back to their fraternal community at the University of West Florida. Fraternity & Sorority Life is proud to say that at the 2014 Conference UWF was honored to have Haley Creech present at the Ignite sessions and have Nora Trotman and Jessica Ryan place second in the Order of Omega Case Study.
