Disability Award Luncheon
The Disability Summit Council presents the annual National Disability Awareness Month Luncheon at the Scenic Hills Country Club. Individuals from various organizations, agencies, service providers, and educational institutions are recognized for their hard work, dedication, and the services they provide to people with disabilities.
UWF Faculty, Students, and Staff participate in a Mentoring Day Program annually. Students in the Project Search Program spend the day with a mentor on campus. The students shadow their mentor and have hands on experiences in a workplace setting.
Disability Awareness Conference
The University of West Florida presents an annual Disability Awareness Day Event in the UWF Conference Center. Last year's event theme was "Because We Are EQUAL to the Task: From Job Seeker to Job Keeper". Ms. Sherry Wheelock, President/CEO, Special Olympics Florida was the special guest speaker. The program also had a discussion panel, job fair and Speaking Peer to Peer session.
Wheelchair Basketball Game
University of West Florida hosts the Mobile Patriots at the Annual Wheelchair Basketball Game. There is live entertainment, concessions, and lots of giveaways. Admission is free and open to the public.
