The mission of the Office of Equity, Diversity & International Affairs at the University of West Florida is to foster a climate of inclusive excellence in today’s global society. The office encourages greater understanding of self and others for students, faculty, staff and the greater community through academic and cultural programming, as well as support services. The office promotes the principles of awareness, acceptance and respect as a way of life at The University of West Florida.
The University of West Florida is deeply saddened by the events in Paris on Friday, November 13th. Our sympathies go out to all those affected by this tragedy and to those who lost loved ones or were shaken by these events. We are relieved to report that all UWF faculty, staff and students in France are safe and unharmed. The security situation in Paris is normalizing. While the state of emergency is still in place, daily life is returning to normal. Government offices, schools, museums and most other businesses are open, and public transportation is operating. Parisian airports are also fully operational, although increased security measures could cause delays. Land borders, which had been closed following the attacks, have also reopened, although tighten border controls remain in place.
After such events as the Terror in Paris we often feel helpless. However, there are many gestures we can make to show our solidarity on a personal level. Small and simple acts of kindness in our daily lives go along way. Please contact International Student Services at email@example.com should you have any concerns or questions regarding this tragic event.
The University’s efforts to embody Awareness, Acceptance and Respect manifest itself in four action-oriented ways: Get Empowered; Get Educated; Get Involved; and Get Help. These pages contain the specifics of how we are creating a climate that is inclusive for all faculty, staff and students. We know that this work is never-ending and this website will be updated as UWF matures in its efforts.
At the University of West Florida we accept, value and celebrate the unique characteristics of each member of our community as well as the commonalities we share. As an educational institution we strive for inclusive excellence and want all members of our community to feel welcome and supported.EEO & Affirmative Action
