Pre-Masters Practicum Student | Counseling & Psychological Services | (850) 474-2420
I am grateful and excited to be a part of the UWF CAPS team for my experience as a pre-master’s level practicum/intern student! As I work towards finishing my master’s degree with the UWF psychology department, I look forward to being of service to our students and learning from them as well.
In the room, I believe in the inherent strengths that every person holds as a result of their journey, both the ups and the downs, through life. I recognize that the individual is the expert of their experience in the world, and that I am present to collaboratively help bring holistic, integrative, and empowering guidance for the benefit of the person. I value the connections between our environment, our thoughts, our emotions, and our actions, and I endeavor to provide assistance toward understanding and balancing these parts of experience in a way that is healthy and constructive for the individual.
I am working towards the completion of my master’s degree in psychology at UWF, with a focus on counseling psychology and certification in health psychology. I am involved with the local community in numerous ways in an effort to help adolescent minority groups in at-risk situations, such as child welfare systems or juvenile delinquency systems. I also have lifetime experience in working with mindfulness and meditation practices. Professionally, I am interested in understanding people’s unique experiences as intersecting privileged and minority identities, empowering people who have had traumatic experiences, supporting and advocating for the LGBTQ community, integrating eastern and western psychology concepts for the benefit of people, and providing people with tools they can use to better their experience in the world.
