In order to participate in the ceremony, you must wear appropriate regalia. Anyone without regalia will not be allowed to walk in the ceremony.
Caps, Gowns & Hoods
Please contact the UWF Bookstore (http://www.uwf.bkstr.com) at 850-474-2150 for information about ordering caps & gowns.
Please visit the Bookstore at that time or place your order online at http://colleges.herffjones.com/college/uwf/.
When you pick up your regalia, you will be given a 3 X 5 card to complete. You must bring this card with you to Commencement. As you step on the platform to greet the College Dean, Provost, and University President, you will hand the card to the University Marshal. As you walk across the stage, the University Marshal will announce your name from the information you printed on the card. Please print your name phonetically on the card to help the University Marshal pronounce it correctly.
Purchase of academic regalia, invitations, and other graduation related items can be made at the University Bookstore.
Undergraduates should wear the tassel on the right side of the cap. After all the undergraduate degrees are conferred, the President will ask you to participate in the traditional “changing of the tassel ritual” in which the tassel is moved to the left side of the cap.
Graduate students should wear the tassel on the left side of the cap.
Undergraduates who are graduating with honors should order honor cords from the Bookstore to wear with their academic gown. Order an honor cord based on your current cumulative grade point average including all transfer coursework. Grades for the semester will not be posted until after the Commencement Ceremony.
The University has established these GPAs for honors recognition:
|Magna Cum Laude||3.70|
|Summa Cum Laude||3.90|
The 3 X 5 card included with your cap and gown has space for you to indicate your honors recognition. Honors designations apply only to undergraduates. UWF does not have a graduation honors program for graduate students. Your grades for the semester will be included in your final GPA and appropriate honors will be posted to your degree based on your complete record at UWF.
