What do you enjoy most about being an academic advisor?

I enjoy the diverse interactions with each student I meet. Every day there are new challenges in this job, being able to work through them with the students and other advisor keeps me on my toes. Each student has his/her own unique set of academic, personal, and career needs. Being able to guide the students and see them succeed in those areas is why I am an advisor.

What advice would you like to give new students and families?

As a student, “Take responsibility for your degree”. Research the degree, know what you can do with the degree, and gather as much information about it from a number of sources. The more information you have allows us, as a team, to construct realistic academic and personal goals.
