All degree-seeking, currently enrolled students and alumni are eligible for Career Development & Community Engagement (CDCE) services, whether you take classes at the Pensacola or Emerald Coast campuses, or take online courses.
There are two ways students and alumni can meet one-on-one with our career coaches: scheduled, hour-long appointments, and drop-in hours.
Scheduled appointments are made in advance to allow career coaches to adequately prepare to meet with students and alumni. These appointments are ideal for in-depth topics that require more than 20 minutes to adequately cover, such as:
- Mock Interviews
- Personal Statement/Letters of Intent for Graduate School
- Salary Negotiation
- Major/Career Exploration
Although appointments are scheduled for an hour, in some cases the full hour may not be necessary or a second appointment may be needed. Selecting the most relevant topic when scheduling your appointment will assist in keeping the meeting on time.

CDCE offers drop-in hours Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students and alumni may spend 15 minutes with the next available career coach to discuss the following types of topics:
- Cover Letters
- Job Search Strategies (Part-time and Full-time Professional Opportunities)
- Informational Interviewing
- Job Shadowing
- Interviewing Tips
CDCE will maintain drop-in hour services during university time periods in which classes are being offered. For other periods, including but not limited to holidays, spring vacation, winter break, Thanksgiving holidays, and periods between terms, CDCE may temporarily discontinue drop-in hour services. However, in cases of emergency and as personnel scheduling allows, CDCE may accommodate students and alumni on a case-by-case basis.
If you arrive 15 minutes or more past your scheduled appointment time, it will be necessary for you to reschedule. If you are unable to keep your appointment or no longer need to be seen, please call within 48 hours to cancel or reschedule your appointment so that we can offer this time to another student.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact CDCE 48 hours prior to your appointment time at 850.474.2254. A “no show” letter will be sent if 48 hour cancellation or rescheduling policy is not met. Once a student receives two "no show" letters for a semester, he or she will no longer be able to schedule an appointment for the remainder of the semester. However, the student can still take advantage of drop-in hours.
