Why should I go to Argo Camp?
  • Argo Camp occurs before your first day of fall semester classes at UWF, and it is one of the greatest experiences of your college career. At Argo Camp, students will interact with current UWF students in a relaxed, communal environment. meet faculty from various departments, and learn about campus life and academics. Statistics show that students who attend Argo Camp are more likely to be involved on campus and reach out to other students. Argo Camp is a place where we assist with any emotional and social changes you may go through during your transition from high school to college.  After attending Argo Camp, you will know several other FTIC students before even starting your first semester at UWF!

What happens at Argo Camp?
  • There will be various socials, a skit competition, team-building exercises, relaxing and swimming in the lake (THE BLOB!), meals, snacks and plenty of water. We also have a lot of fun surprises for you during Argo Camp! Trust us, there will be plenty to do!

When is Argo Camp?
  • Session 1: August 17-19, 2014
    Session 2: August 20-22, 2014

Where is Argo Camp?
  • Marianna, Florida (2 hours east of Pensacola)

Who can attend?
  • First time in college (FTIC) students who went through an on-campus, two-day summer orientation and will attend UWF in the fall (August) may attend Argo Camp.

Does it cost anything?
  • Yes, $195 per person. The $195 fee includes:

    • Meals
    • Lodging
    • Transportation
    • Camp T-Shirt
    • Goofy Relay
    • Camper Notebook
    • 3 Days and 2 Nights
    • Snacks
    • Friends!
    • Memories!
When can I move into my residence hall room?
  • Session 1: August 16, 2014
    Session 2: August 19, 2014

Can my parents come to ArgoCamp?
  • No, Argo Camp is for FTIC students only.

What happens when I return to campus after going to Session 1? Will there be anything for me to do?
  • Yes! If you decide to attend Session 1, you will definitely not be bored. You can participate in Argo Arrival festivities, which will last until the end of the first week of classes. Argo Camp counselors and fellow campers will also be there, so you will not be alone.

When and where do we check-in for Argo Camp?
  • Check in will be at 8:00 a.m. in front of the University Commons, Building 22. We will start at 9:15 a.m. downstairs in the University Commons Auditorium (Building 22). 

How can I confirm that I am registered for Argo Camp?
  • To find out if we received your application and liability form, please contact us by phone at (850) 473-7303 or by email at To find out if your payment went through, please contact the Cashier’s Office by phone at (850) 474-3027. Make sure you have your student ID (Nautilus) card number handy.

What do I need to bring?
  • Twin size sheets
    Pillow and blanket or sleeping bag
    Comfortable clothes for 4 days (in case it rains one day)
    Comfortable footwear (flip flops and tennis shoes)
    Swim Suits
    Bug Spray
    Reusable Water Bottle
    A luau/Hawaiian themed outfit
    Shower shoes
    Medication (if needed)
    Excitement, smiles and a good attitude!

    Items to leave at home:
    Money (everything is included within your payment)
    Alcohol/illegal substances
    Any other valuables you do not want to lose at camp (iPods, laptops, etc). Argo Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen possessions.

How do I know if there is a spot for me at Argo Camp?
  • If you do NOT hear anything from the Argo Camp office, then you have a spot at Argo Camp. We will email or call you when we are at full capacity and/or if you are on the waiting list.

If Session 1 is full, does that automatically put me in Session 2?
  • No, if Session 1 is at full capacity, we will email or call you and ask if you would like to be put in Session 2. If you do not want to be put in Session 2, you will be put on the waiting list for Session 1.

Will I receive anything from the Argo Camp office after I mail in my application, liability form and check?
  • Yes, you will receive an email confirmation closer to the camp date with detailed information on to what to bring.

Does the witness signature on the liability form have to be notarized?
  • No, the witness signature can be signed by whomever is present when the form is completed.

I am no longer coming to Argo Camp. Am I eligible to receive a refund?
  • Argo Camp Refund Policy: If you are no longer coming to Argo Camp, please send an email to with your name, student ID (Nautilus) card number, and reason for cancellation. In order to receive a refund, we must have written documentation of your cancellation. If you cancel before August 1st, you will receive $97.50 (half of the original payment of $195.00). If you cancel after August 1st, you will receive NO refund.

Are there any Argo Camp scholarships available?
