Argo Camp

Argo Camp is a supplementary but optional extended orientation program geared toward our incoming freshman class. We offer a three-day, two-night experience where students will be given the opportunity to establish lifelong friendships and build social networks with their peers, currently-enrolled UWF students and professional faculty and staff. Common Read Discussion Series

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian  by Sherman Alexie

Students will have the opportunity to engage in a university-wide intellectual and cross-disciplinary program during this discussion series. Get involved with our Common Read #GetTogetherUWF project! Arnold, the main character, uses drawings and artwork to “talk to the world,” and we want new students to do the same:
1. Create a piece of art, sculpture, silent film, food dish, piece of music, etc.
2. Post a picture of your work on UWF Student Transition Programs' Facebook page or tweet @UWFSTP using #GetTogetherUWF! Please include your orientation session date.
3. Like and comment on artwork submitted by other UWF students.
4. Bring your #GetTogether projects to the Common Read discussions on Tuesday, August 26! Learn more about the Common Read.

Bench It Out Competition

Endurance strength-based competition where participants do as many presses as safely possible during the month of September. Men will press their body weight; women will press 60% of their bodyweight. Competitors will have to weigh in right before they bench in order to get an accurate weight for the bench. Prizes include water bottle or T-shirt. Tell an HLS staff member if you would like to join the program.

Conquer the Wonderland Trail

Be one of the first three people to complete 93 miles of one of the finest and best hiking routes in the world, the Wonderland Trail located around Mount Rainier in Washington. This cardio-based incentive program encourages people to improve cardiovascular health. The program will track participants' miles on the cardio equipment throughout September. The first three people to complete the trail will receive a gift card to Marble Slab Creamery. Tell an HLS staff member if you would like to join the program.

The Art Gallery (TAG) at UWF presents an Artist Residency Project by Joy Holland.
