What do you enjoy most about being an academic advisor?

What I enjoy most about being an academic advisor is assisting students through their educational journey. Nelson Mandela stated, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the World.” I believe when an individual makes a decision to pursue post secondary education there is something within driving them to equip themselves to positively impact their family, community and the world. I consider it an honor to assist them through their journey.

What is one surprising thing about you that not many people know?

I like to watch Westerns but ONLY if they are televised in Black and White. Gunsmoke is my favorite sitcom. Westerns cover an array of genres. Each episode is often filled with suspense, drama, comedy and romance. I find it to be a wonderful form of escapism.

What is the best advice you ever received, who gave it?

Always have a plan! In addition to the first plan, have backup plans if you are unsuccessful because there is more than one way to accomplish a goal- My Mother
