Dr. Dione King

Dr. Dione King is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work who joined the UWF faculty in January 2013. She received her Ph.D and MSW in Social Work from the University of Georgia and her B.A. in Sociology from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. King utilizes blended instruction in all of her courses which include: Human Behavior and the Social Environment I, Human Behavior and the Social Environment II, Research Foundations and Domestic Violence.
Her path to social work began while teaching middle school math and English. Her social work experiences have focused on working with families impacted by domestic violence (including child victims), homeless women and children, adolescents at-risk and families being served in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. In addition, she has provided individual and group interventions, therapeutic services, assessments and program evaluations for several local and state agencies. Her research areas are teen dating violence, domestic violence, adolescent risk behaviors including substance use and mental health symptomology.
