Ms. Karen Rentz has been with the University of West Florida since 2012 were she has worked as an Associate Director in the Human Resources Department, the Director for the Office of Equal Opportunity & Compliance, and the Director for the Office of Title IX. Her current role is the Executive Director for the Office of Equity & Diversity. As the Executive Director, Ms. Rentz has oversight of policies, procedures, and programs associated with equal opportunity, civil rights, Title IX, affirmative action, compliance, and diversity, equity and inclusion programming. She co-chairs the President’s Council for Diversity and Inclusion, serves on the Campus Care Team, chairs the Title IX Committee, the Athletics Gender Equity Committee, and handles bias response allegations (formerly known as the Bias Response Team). She is also active in the Florida state university system’s (SUS) Equity and Title IX committee.
Ms. Rentz also has 20 years private industry human resources experience, with 10 of those years being at an executive leadership level. Ms. Rentz holds a bachelor’s in communications and a master’s in human resources. She holds several human resources certifications, such as the PHR and SHRM-CP, and is certified as a Title IX Administrator and Title IX Investigator. She enjoys traveling abroad and her favorite color is red.
