The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Degree is a practice focused doctorate that prepares the professional nurse for the highest level of practice to focus on using the best evidence to improve outcomes for individuals, populations and organizational systems.
A unique opportunity now exists for nurses in the Panhandle region of Florida to obtain this terminal degree through a partnership that has been established between the University of West Florida and University of Florida.
This innovative and flexible online program centers on knowledge and skill building in the areas of scholarly practice, practice improvement, evaluation of health outcomes, health policy, leadership in healthcare delivery and quality improvement, and clinical expertise for advanced nursing education.
The current DNP Program option is available for individuals who have already received their Master's degree as a nurse practitioner or nurse midwife and are nationally certified. The education experience is primarily a Web-based format that requires very limited time to Gainesville. Students will be notified at least two (2) months in advance of the date for attendance when required. Students in this program will be expected to complete their clinical coursework within the state of Florida.
