Housing GroundbreakingUWF Breaks Ground on New Residence Hall
The University of West Florida will have an additional 250 students living on campus for fall semester 2010. In what is currently being called the "Housing Expansion 2010," the residence hall will be a five-story facility located west of UWF's Martin Hall. Constructed by The Haskell Company, accommodations will include three-and four-student suites and each floor of the residence will have a kitchen and lounge area for students.

"Providing additional housing at UWF will add to our student life and campus life," said Judy Bense, UWF President. Link: UWF Top Story

Arcadia MillUWF Explores History with Local Teachers
Dead guys and dusty books - these are the images many school children conjure up when they think about studying history. Public school teachers are challenged with the task of convincing their students that there is more to history than meets the eye and inspiring them to develop a passion for the past and an understanding of how it impacts the future. Giving local school teachers in Escambia County and Santa Rosa Counties the knowledge and tools they need to rise to the challenge, the University of West Florida is offering a one-week Social Studies Summer Academy. Through the academy, UWF will teach school teachers that by connecting local Pensacola history to general history, they can engage their students and make the curriculum much more interesting.
