Jonathan Martin has degrees from L.S.U., the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of Iowa. He began his career as a cornet soloist with the U.S.A.F. "Band of the West" and has performed in almost every genre of music. Dr. Martin has been teaching at the university level since 1991 while continuing to perform in brass quintets, jazz ensembles and orchestras. He is currently second trumpet with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and principal trumpet of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Martin's credits include a number of recordings including a world premier of "Concerto for Two Trumpets and Timpani" by Arnold Rosner and a jazz quartet CD "Standard Jazz".
Dr Martin has performed with such diverse groups/performers as: The Lexington Philharmonic, The Quad Cities Symphony, Bob Hope, Aretha Franklin, Jim Nabors, Bobby Shew, Dudley Moore, Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Mathis, Bernadette Peters, Dizzy Gillespie, The Big Band of Chicago, Lou Rawls, The New York Tenors, Tom Scott, Dionne Warwick, The Barret Deems Jazz Orchestra, the San Antonio Synphony, the San Antonio Brass, and a number of Broadway shows on tour.
