Darlene Reed considers herself a native Pensacolian, having moved here with her parents from
Alabama when only nine months old. After receiving her diploma from Escambia High School, where
she was Principal violinist in the school’s orchestra, she went on to complete the Bachelors and Masters
degrees at Peabody Conservatory of Music, Baltimore, where she was a student of Dr. Konrad Wolf.
She gave her professional debut recital at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in November of 1974.
Darlene has taught students from beginners to the collegiate level. For nearly 20 years she was the owner
and CEO of Professional Printers, Ltd., while continuing her playing career as an accompanist for choral
groups and soloist.
Darlene is married to Dr. Larry W. Reed and is the mother of sons Ashley of Mobile, AL who is in printing equipment sales, and Gavin of Houston, TX, a professional freelance French horn player. Darlene and Larry enjoy three grandsons, Camden 10, Alexander 9 and Noah 7.
