Use of Computer Accounts and Labs
As a UWF student, you were issued an
ArgoNet account when you enrolled.
With the provided login name and password for this account,
you automatically have access to an e-mail account and to disk space
to create and maintain Web pages. (We will discuss how to create pages
in class.) You can access this account from
any computer on campus, or from home. For the purposes of this
course we will mainly utilize the following labs:
- Biology Department Computer Lab - Bldg. 58, Room 011
This laboratory will be the primary computing area for the course.
From machines in this lab, you should be able to edit your course
Website, work on your term project, and review on-line bioinformatics
resources. This lab is available Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Computer Lab - Bldg. 58A, 2nd floor
This laboratory has another set of PCs with Perl installed.
This lab is typically available Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- UWF LAN Computer Lab (also known as SAIL Lab)- Bldg. 79
This lab has over 100 machines and is available 24 hrs/day, 7 days/week.
You will be able to
edit course Web pages and perform Internet searching from here.
For problems related to your ArgoNet account, please contact the
ITS Help Desk.
You will also be to complete assignments via remote access from your
home computer. Look for more information on this option in eLearning.uwf.edu.
