Services
The Military and Veterans Resource Center provides the following services:
Transition coaches
who are current UWF veteran students provide transition guidance for new and existing veteran students.
- Starting with the initial consultation these transition coaches will guide the veteran students as they build a plan to reach their educational goal.
- Transition coaches will coordinate as necessary with various offices on campus as needed as an advocate to support the students need. (enrollment assistance, GI Bill benefits, academic advising, specialized counseling...etc.)
- Transition coaches will follow up with students as they progress into their coursework and serve as a mentor to support them while enrolled as a student at UWF.
- Prospective students - transition coaches will meet with and assist prospective students in the decision making process as to whether or not to enroll at UWF.
Student Assistant
- A student assistant will be available anytime the MVRC is open to provide students assistance in the computer center with technology that may present challenges such as UWF's Desire 2 Learn (D2L) Learning Management System - particularly for new students, as well as using the software on the available PCs in support of coursework.
Dedicated Location
- The Military & Veterans Resource Center is located in bldg. 38 rooms 147, 147A and 141A.
- The computer center is in room 147 providing Dell and iMac desktop computers for coursework. A limited number of Dell laptops are available for checkout, iPads are available for use within the center only.
- There is a lounge area for military and veteran students to enjoy a little downtown between, before, or after classes.
- A private room is available for group study including a large, wall-mounted, flat screen monitor.
