Teaching Experience

Courses Taught:

Experimental Design & Analysis – This is an advanced undergraduate ANOVA course that I have taught six times.  The course is primarily lecture with in class exercises, including hands on computer training.  It covers issues of experimental design, descriptive and inferential statistics with a focus on ANOVA (including between and within subjects designs, factorial designs, and follow up tests), interpreting results, writing up method and results sections in APA format, data entry, analysis and graphing in Excel, and programming and data analysis in SAS.  I have experience using Blackboard to facilitate instruction of this course using online materials.  I also supervised and trained undergraduate teaching assistants as part of this course.

Research Methods – This is a required undergraduate methods course that I have taught twice.  It is taught in a large lecture hall with small supplementary lab sessions.  I was the instructor for the large lecture section and coordinated the labs and supervised the lab instructors.  I also designed and maintained a website for this course to facilitate instruction using online materials.  The course covers research design issues, ethical considerations, writing research reports in APA format, descriptive and inferential statistics (including t-test, chi square, ANOVA, follow up tests, correlation and multiple regression), and non-experimental research methodologies.

Courses Serving as a Teaching Assistant:

Experimental Design & Analysis – As the assistant to the instructor for this advanced undergraduate ANOVA course, I was responsible for generating and grading homework assignments and exams, holding review sessions, and working one on one with students to assist them with any difficulties they had with the course material.

Honors Seminar – As the assistant to the instructor for this core course in the Psychology Honors program, I was responsible for preparing and giving lectures on: APA format, using Microsoft Word to prepare thesis documents, using computers to assist data entry, graphing, and analysis, preparing graduate school applications, and creating thesis defense presentations.  I also worked one on one with students helping them with their honors thesis projects and reviewed and gave feedback on thesis drafts.

Thesis Committee Experience:

Served on 3 Psychology Undergraduate Honors thesis committees.
