M&CS has revamped our way of doing things as a department to better serve the campus community and provide what we feel to be valuable resources. During this process we have been getting quite a few questions. Hopefully the following FAQs will shed some light on our new process while pointing you in the right direction.
When and where can we access to the new Branding Resource Guide?
The Branding Guide is available here (PDF).
What will the new guide include?
This guide serves as a foundational piece of the entire brand unification process as well as a "go-to" resource for each member of the campus community to act as a brand ambassador. It includes all standards for logo usage, graphic identity, brand guidelines, plus a variety of additional resources.
I've been informed that I can't use my existing logo for my department/division/program/unit? Is that true?
Yes. In an effort to unify the UWF brand, we have phased out the ability for the campus community to use or create separate marks. However, we have developed the official "logo signature system" for the campus to take advantage of so that everyone can participate in effectively building the UWF brand in a cooperative fashion. For more information, refer to pages 12-13 of the Branding Resource Guide. To request a UWF logo, your logo signature or if you have any immediate logo-related questions, contact Executive Director Sabrina McLaughlin at smclaughlin1@uwf.edu or Ext. 2433.
When and how can I use the UWF logos?
Our Branding Resource Guide fully outlines all primary logo usage standards. To request a UWF logo, your logo signature or if you have any immediate logo-related questions, contact Executive Director Sabrina McLaughlin at smclaughlin1@uwf.edu or Ext. 2433.
How can I access the Athletic logo?
The Athletic logos are only available for use by the Athletics Department and may not be used or manipulated by anyone other than approved parties. However, one athletic logo was set aside for non-athletic related uses approved on a case-by-case basis. If you have any questions about this change or would like to request use of the available athletic logo, please contact Executive Director Sabrina McLaughlin at smclaughlin1@uwf.edu or Ext. 2433. As part of your request for use of the approved athletic logo please include your intent for use and your affiliation to the university.
Does UWF have specific fonts & colors?
UWF's primary colors are Blue and Green with Gold as a secondary color. Standards for usage are outlined within the comprehensive Branding Resource Guide on page 10. For questions, please e-mail Creative Director Pola Young at pwyoung@uwf.edu.
I want to order business cards with the gold seal; why I can't do that through the online ordering system?
The gold seal is reserved for members of the Cabinet and Board of Trustees only. For more information, see page 14 of our Branding Resource Guide.
I have an issue with a business card, letterhead or stationery order I am trying to place through the online system. Who do I contact for help?
For technical questions about ordering on the MLI site, please contact MLI representative Michelle Chio at (800)741-6838, ext. 227 or michelle@mlicorp.com.
For questions concerning letterhead, envelopes and business card styles available on the MLI site contact Joy Ward in Business and Auxiliary Services at jward@uwf.edu .
Can we create our own marketing materials?
If you choose to create projects yourself that will be used off-campus or used to market to prospective students or new/incoming students in any advertising on behalf of UWF, these materials must be submitted for review prior to printing and placement. The purpose of this review process is to ensure consistency in appearance and messaging in support of the overall university marketing strategy and brand. Our Do-It-Yourself form is available in MyUWF (search Do-It-Yourself Print Projects Approval Form). If you have questions regarding this process, please contact M&CS Executive Director Sabrina McLaughlin at smclaughlin1@uwf.edu.
Does your department provide templates?
These templates are housed in the Marketing Toolbox section of our website. We'll be sure to notify the campus as additional templates are added.
Where can I access UWF photography for use? How can I set up my own photo shoot?
You can access UWF's Photo Archive through Picasa. There is a wide variety of photos to choose from, so please review the albums before submitting a request for a photo shoot. Photos are sized for both print and web use. To set up your own photo shoot, please complete the Photography Needs Assessment Form available MyUWF (search for Photography Needs Assessment Form).
What should I do if I have a newsworthy cause I am interested in sharing with the media?
Fill out the Press Release Request Form located in MyUWF or contact news@uwf.edu and we will assist with your media outreach. Marketing & Creative Services is responsible for approving all University-related press release and distributing to the media.

I like the new website, but have heard it is changing again, is that true?
We are preparing to migrate the UWF web presence to a content management system (CMS) to help us manage our growth in the future. This migration does not prohibit us from assisting departments with existing web needs. In fact, now is the time to begin reviewing your existing content and navigation in an effort to facilitate a smooth migration. Please feel free to contact Assistant Director of Web Services Jay Massey at jmassey@uwf.edu to answer any pre-migration questions or for assistance in planning.
How do I sign up for Web Development Training?
M&CS is happy to provide a variety of Web Development Tools. To get started, please visit the Web Presence page.
