THE SHIP’S BRIDGE EXHIBIT

Imagine...
YOU are captain of your own ship, navigating your vessel through treacherous waterways and busy seaports. From the bridge, you and your crew utilize all necessary skills of coastal navigation and collision avoidance to guide your way past other ships arriving and departing the harbor.

With just one visit to the State of Florida Maritime Museum and Research Center, you will have opportunities to participate in hands on learning focused on techniques for piloting a boat in coastal and inland conditions. From the centuries old technique of celestial navigation to the use of GPS, visitors can learn methods of piloting their vessel to sea.

Through a state-of-the-art interactive simulation, you will be able to put your newly learned skills into action on the “Ship’s Bridge” exhibit. Although only a simulation, visitors will sense the drama and be filled with wonderment at how real the experience feels.
