Milana Romonenko (MBA student) presented an article title "A Simulation Study of Banking Operations at a Branch" at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Decision Sciences Institute held in Boston, Massachusetts, from November 19-22, 2011. The article is a result of a research project completed by her and Margaret Fontaine (undergraduate Management major) under guidance of Dr. Esmail Mohebbi, Associate Professor, Management/MIS. The Decision Sciences Institute is the premier global professional organization committed to application of quantitative and behavioral approaches to solve problems of society.
The two students developed a simulation model to investigate ways to improve operations of a local credit union. They collected data and tested the simulation model for a variety of scenarios. The results revealed great potential for using a simulation based modeling approach to improve customer service and operational efficiency in a credit union setting.
