Deleting Temporary Files | |||
|
An area of your computer "remembers" web pages you've visited. Some sites leave "cookies" and temporary files on your harddrive. Cookies store basic information about you such as your name, email address, the date you accessed a particular web site and whether or not you are logged in to the site. This information can also personalize the web site, by greeting you by your name or displaying what state you live in. Though these files may not take up a lot of space on your hard drive, it is a good idea to delete them from time to time. You delete these files by opening the "Tools" menu and choosing "Internet Options" as shown in figure 1. Figure 1 When the "Internet Options" box appears, look at the section titled, "Temporary Internet Files". Select the "Delete Cookies" and "Delete Files" buttons (see Figure 2) to clear your harddrive. Figure 2
