All students traveling abroad must have a valid passport and we strongly encourage students to apply for one immediately following their acceptance to a particular program. For those students who already have passports, we encourage them to check to verify that their passport will be valid for the period of time that they will be participating in the Study Abroad Program. (Some countries require passports be valid a number of months beyond the proposed return date.)
Visa requirements vary from one country to another, as well as by length and purpose of stay and in some countries, the consulates require students to apply individually for their visa. Please know that the ODIEP does not make travel arrangements for participants in the Study Abroad Program.
In addition, the ODIEP is not able to accommodate students who plan to arrive at a program site before the pre-determined arrival date. Nor can it make allowances for students arriving late at the program sites. Similarly, students are expected to remain on-site at the host university until their final exams are completed. The ODIEP cannot make special arrangements for exams for students who wish to leave a program early.
