Advanced Technology and Manufacturing
The University of West Florida is proud to house a state-of-the-art additive manufacturing equipment, the Sea 3D lab, which serves as a hub for multidisciplinary research, providing a space for students, business leaders and members of the community to collaborate on the creation of 3D printing products. The multidisciplinary space allows research, invention and discovery in the high-demand fields of additive manufacturing.
As an academic online resource, FloridaShines works with the state’s 40 colleges and universities, as well as other partners, to offer a one-stop-shop for all the information that prospective students of all ages need to succeed in higher education in the job market. This advanced web portal assists Florida’s 20,000,000 residents in earning a college degree and finding a career.
Bridging the Gap
Our Veterans Entrepreneurship Program, which is offered by Veterans Florida in partnership with the UWF Military Veterans Resource Center, is diligent in mentoring program graduates to receive the best support possible as they transition into the career field.
Through a series of workshops, a 60-hour Master Advanced Class and business pitch competition, this program mentors veterans to excel in business and recognize their entrepreneurial talents and focus. The program was created with a particular focus on helping current military, veterans and their dependents earn a college degree. Our forward thinking programs aim to make the Northwest Florida community a better place to live by enhancing the educational opportunities for our veterans and individuals to complete their degrees as well as find the right career path. UWF strives to be a resource for all through our complimentary learning courses and state of the art equipment and technological advancements.
At UWF we look at challenges and find complete solutions. We believe Complete Florida and Complete Florida Military are just that. With these programs, we are proud to support and encourage the 2.2 million adults in Florida with some, or no college degree. Through these state funded programs, participants including on and off duty military personnel and their dependents complete a certificate, an associate or a bachelor’s degree that aligns with their passion and in demand, high-wage jobs.
Complete Florida utilizes MyCareerShines which is the state’s comprehensive education and career planning system. The system is powered by an array of online tools that allows students and job seekers to develop a personalized plan that connects interests, skills, and education to a particular career path.
Through Complete Florida, students are paired with a personal success coaches who help them navigate paperwork and registration, and works with their institution. Complete Florida makes the process of going back to school easy, affordable, and accessible to all students.

Digital Learning Reimagined
UWF’s Global Online is a game changer. Through fully online Undergraduate and Graduate degree programs, Certificates and global partnerships, students can interact with international agencies, compete in virtual high impact experiences and promote cross-cultural understanding across time zones.
UWF graduates hundreds of students in fully online programs. From our award winning bachelors in Special Education and Health Sciences (Best Colleges.com) to world class programs in Business, Nursing, Educational Leadership, Public Health, Education, Math, English, Government, Information Technology and many more, UWF graduates are changing the world!
Resources for All
Through the Global Online initiative, we have also developed free online courses that are available through the Canvas network to students, faculty, staff and the local community.
Mother Mother Ocean, Gulf Stories 2 highlight the University of West Florida’s researchers and their work in and around the Gulf of Mexico. The courses cover a vast variety of subjects from maritime archeology to environmental challenges, advanced manufacturing, citizen science, coastal ecology and even supply chain logistics.
In addition, we have created Cross-Cultural Competency course, in partnership with UWF Division of Academic Engagement, which takes a close look at some potentially sensitive issues—gender and sexuality, religious diversity, multiculturalism, and disability.
