Customized Professional Development:
ICL offers online and face-to-face workshops that teachers and leaders can take to earn in-service points in their respective school districts. The workshop instruction is aligned to the Florida Professional Development Protocol (FPDP). School districts that are interested in requesting professional development training may submit an initial request by completing the Request for Training form and returning it to ICL. ICL then contacts the school to gain further insight on the need.
- Reading Competency 2:
ICL developed a State of Florida approved, online course that satisfies the requirements for Competency 2 of the Florida Reading Endorsement.
- Applying the Downey Classroom Walkthrough Method:
ICL provides instruction in the application of the "Downey Classroom Walkthrough" method, which has been tested for over 40 years.
By asking specific questions, leaders talk to teachers about instructional decisions they make everyday to increase student learning. Such questions include the following:
- How do our teachers align their instructional practices with the district curriculum?
- How are they using research-based best practices?
- How are they choosing instructional strategies?
- How do I motivate staff to be reflective in their practice and personally accountable for their teaching decisions?
