The Knowledge Base and Demonstration of the Twelve Accomplished Practices was designed collaboratively with the University of West Florida and the regional school districts to provide the best opportunity for success for non-certified teachers employed by the districts. A major revision in the program occurred the summer of 2007 based upon program evaluations from ACP participants. Revisions continue based on mid-term and final evaluations of participants. The program is blended meaning there are some face to face meetings complemented with online instruction. The focus of the instruction is a Classroom management Plan and a sound instructional plan to support achievement for all students.
Competency 2 of the reading endorsement is included in the structure of the program. It is the last unit. When you complete ACP, Competency 2 completion is documented as well if you have not completed this requirement.
ACP is non-credit program but successful completion of the program and the three state tests for certification allows participants to transfer 6 hours of graduate credit to a master’s program at the University of West Florida.
The Alternative Certification Program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed for success as a first year teacher and for certification. This program is paired with a district mentoring program and performance appraisal system.
- ACP is a nine month program.
- All participants will complete a portfolio documenting competency in the Twelve Accomplished Practices.
- All meetings for the program will be at a centralized location.
- The master’s program will be an infield master’s degree for all teachers.
