Students wishing to receive Honors credit for an upper-level course not otherwise designated as Honors may annotate the course for Honors credit with the approval of the faculty member and Honors Director. The student will need to complete additional work for Honors credit, but the intention of an Honors by Contract is that this coursework have more depth and meaning for the individual student rather than it being simply additional.
Honors by Contract courses provide opportunities for working more closely with distinguished faculty, and require two forms to be completed. You can download the Honors Contract and Evaluation forms here. You must turn in a copy of the course syllabus and a 250 word typed description of the additional work to be done.
Honors students may substitute one honors elective by performing and logging 60 volunteer hours through the on campus volunteer office, Volunteer UWF!, within the dates of one academic semester.
Please note that students who want to have an elective waived by doing volunteer hours must submit an Honors by Contract form to the Director by the Honors by Contract regular deadline in the beginning of the semester, and that these hours are in addition to any service hour requirements already in place for your degree plan.
